Russia, together with Tajikistan, will continue to deter the infiltration of terrorists and drugs from neighboring countries. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a session of the CSTO Collective Security Council in the format of a video conference.

"I want to note the special role of Tajikistan in deterring threats that come from neighboring countries, I mean, of course, drug infiltration, terrorists. Here Tajikistan is doing a huge positive job, and we will continue to do so together with you, helping, including by using our capabilities of the Russian military structure, which is located on the territory of Tajikistan," Putin assured.

The 201st Military Base, deployed in Tajikistan, is Russia's largest military facility outside its borders. It is located in two cities - Dushanbe and Bokhtar. According to the agreement signed in October 2012, the unit will remain in Tajikistan until 2042.
