The Russian Federation continues to prioritize fostering friendly ties with Muslim countries, both bilaterally and through dialogue with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). This message was conveyed by Russian President Vladimir Putin in an address to participants of the external session of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia – Islamic World", held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The statement was read by Rustam Minnikhanov, Chairman of the Group and Head of Tatarstan.
"Russia traditionally attaches great importance to strengthening friendly ties with Muslim nations, both bilaterally and within the framework of dialogue with the OIC. It is notable that, in today’s challenging international environment, our stances on many key regional and global issues are closely aligned. This is reflected in the theme of the current session: 'Russia and the Islamic World: Cooperation in an Emerging Multipolar Era'. Together, we advocate for the establishment of a just and democratic world order based on genuine equality and the rule of international law," Putin stated.
The Russian president emphasized the need to address regional conflicts, crises, and the global fight against terrorism. He also highlighted the importance of coordinating efforts in education and enlightenment to more effectively counter the spread of extremist ideologies.
"I am confident that your discussions will be constructive and meaningful, and that the ideas and initiatives proposed by the Group will contribute to the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries," Putin concluded.
