Cooperation between Russia and Uzbekistan in the field of education is active and fruitful, even despite the limitations associated with the pandemic. This was stated by Russian President Vladimir Putin in his greeting to participants, organizers and guests of the II Russian-Uzbek educational forum.
The address was read at the event by Igor Maslov, head of the Kremlin Department for Interregional and Cultural Relations with Foreign Countries.
According to the Russian president, fruitful cooperation between the two countries in the field of education, undoubtedly, contributes to the development of bilateral relations of strategic partnership and alliance. "The main thing is that joint work in this area is carried out very actively and effectively, despite the well-known limitations caused by the coronavirus pandemic," he stressed.
In particular, Putin continued, the network of Russian universities in Uzbekistan is expanding. There are now 14 of them and the opening of the 15th such institution, a branch of St. Petersburg State University in Tashkent, is at the final stage. "The number of Uzbek students studying in Russia is constantly increasing - in the current academic year it has exceeded 43 thousand," said Russian President.
According to him, it is important that the agenda of the forum includes the most pressing issues facing Russian and Uzbek partners in education, in particular the issues of cooperation through universities, teacher professional development for secondary schools, as well as improving pre-school preparation of children, including language training.
"I expect that you will hold constructive and informative discussions, and your ideas and initiatives will be in demand in practice and serve to further strengthen friendly relations between our countries and nations," summed up the Russian leader.
