American intelligence agencies are helping Russia in the fight against terrorism, Russian leader told TASS for The 20 Questions with Vladimir Putin project.

The head of state recalled that thanks to information from the United States, two supporters of the ISIL terrorist group (outlawed in Russia) were detained in St. Petersburg at the end of 2019.

"That specific case was detected by the US. I would like to thank them a lot for sharing that information with us. I called Trump to thank the US for giving us the information," Putin said, adding that the Russian intelligence services didn't have this information.
Vladimir Putin also praised the work of American intelligence agencies, which " work globally, just like we do".

Speaking at the FSB Board in February, Putin noted a reduction in the number of terrorist crimes in the country - from nine in 2018 to four in 2019.
