Speaking during a meeting via videoconference with participants of the All-Russian campaign "We Together", Russian President Vladimir Putin said that a number of support programs for medical workers fighting against the coronavirus should also be extended to volunteers.

“The fact that some of the support programs that we developed for healthcare providers need to be extended to volunteers, I agree with you, of course. You are right, ”the Russian leader noted, in particular, commenting on the idea of expanding the insurance program for medical personnel working with COVID-19 to volunteers.

Volunteers in hospitals, as the president emphasized, along with medical personnel are at the forefront of the fight against the coronavirus. The head of state noted that volunteers were one of the first people who came to him when he visited the hospital in Kommunarka.

“Honestly, I was surprised. They came and said: yes, here we are volunteers, we are already working here”, - said Vladimir Putin.

The Russian leader called the help of volunteers to Russians during the coronavirus pandemic civic heroism, expressing gratitude to “all without exception people who, at the call of their hearts, responded to the problems that people face”, and “to volunteers, employees of non-profit organizations, entrepreneurs, cultural workers, athletes, to journalists, to all those who in these difficult days did not stand aside and showed spiritual generosity, and sometimes real civilian heroism”.

“Russia has always had a reputation for its generous and bold people. An exploit and selfless devotion to a cause are synonymous here. We have always, in all historical eras, dealt with adversity all together, by pooling our efforts. This is a tradition of our people. It is in their bones, their genetic and cultural codes. Now we are again together”, - said Russian President.

“Volunteers and socially oriented NGOs have united and backed the state and society. They are working in medical and social facilities, helping the elderly and people with disabilities to purchase medications and food. Let me repeat that you are where help is needed. This is the main thing”, - emphasized Vladimir Putin in his speech.
