Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev for the compromise decisions that are being made to resolve the situation in the South Caucasus.
"Of course, one of the most important issues remains the settlement of the situation in the region. I know that you pay very much attention to this, of course, [give] importance," the Russian head of state said at a meeting with Aliyev in Moscow on Tuesday.
Putin thanked the Azerbaijani leader for "finding compromise solutions" in this situation. As the Russian president noted, such solutions are always the most difficult.
"But if we want - and we all want - a settlement, then we must follow this path. So far we have managed to do this, for which I want to thank you," the Russian leader summarized, adding that he was very happy to see Aliyev.
