Putin thanked Erdogan for Turkey's exchange of Yaroshenko for Reed

Russian President Vladimir Putin during telephone talks with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Thursday expressed gratitude for the exchange of Russian Konstantin Yaroshenko for American Trevor Reed  in Turkey.


"During the talks the parties discuss the exchange that took place yesterday in Turkey between Russia and the United States, as well as the events related to the war in Ukraine. During the talks, Russian President Putin thanked President Erdogan for the exchange of Russian pilot Konstantin Yaroshenko and American Marine Trevor Reed, which took place yesterday in Turkey under the coordination and supervision of the National Intelligence Organization. President Erdogan said that Turkey's mediation of the exchange is not only a sign of the importance it attaches to peace, dialogue and cooperation, but also of its importance in terms of its mediation mission," the office of the Turkish president told reporters.


Erdogan and Putin discussed the situation in Ukraine by phone.


Intelligence coordination


Coordination and close dialogue between the intelligence organizations of Russia and Turkey will contribute to stability, Erdogan said.


"President Erdogan said that coordination and close dialogue between intelligence organizations should continue. He said this would help prevent humanitarian tragedies in the region and establish stability," the office said.
