Russian President Vladimir Putin told his BRICS colleagues about the settlement of the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, saying that the agreements reached are being observed and the situation in the area is stabilizing.

Speaking about global and regional security at the BRICS summit on Tuesday, Putin reminded that the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh entered an acute phase in September.

"The Russian side has made great efforts to help stop the fighting between our two friendly states and encourage them to find compromise solutions. As a result of our mediation, a full ceasefire and the deployment of a Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh were reached on November 9," Putin said.

He mentioned that all this was recorded in a tripartite statement signed by the Presidents of Russia, Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia.

"It is important that the agreements mentioned are observed. The fighting has completely stopped, the situation is stabilizing. Thus, conditions have been created for long-term and full settlement of the crisis, and on a fair basis, in the interests of both the Azerbaijani and Armenian peoples," the Russian President stressed.
