Putin: the era of unipolar world is over, despite attempts to preserve it

The era of the unipolar world order is over, despite all attempts to mothball it by any means, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday during a speech at a plenary session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).

"A year and a half ago, speaking at the Davos Forum, it was once again stressed that the era of the unipolar world order has ended," the head of state said, adding that he now wants to begin his speech with this, "without it there is nowhere to go."

"[This era] has come to an end, despite all attempts to preserve it, to mothball it by any means. It is a natural course, change is the natural course of history, because the civilizational diversity of the planet, the richness of cultures is difficult to combine with political, economic and other templates. Templates do not work here, templates that are roughly, without any alternative imposed from one center", explained Putin.

According to him, "the flaw is embedded in the very idea according to which there is one, albeit strong, power with a limited circle of states close to it or, as they also say, admitted to it, and all the rules of business turnover and international relations, when it becomes necessary, are interpreted exclusively in the interests of this power, as they say, working in one direction."

"The game is one-way. A world based on such dogmas is definitely unstable," concluded the president.
