23 June 2022

Russian President Vladimir Putin will attend the Caspian Summit in person on 29 June in Ashgabat, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday.

"He plans to," Peskov said when asked by TASS whether Putin planned to attend the Summit. The Kremlin spokesman replied in the affirmative when asked whether the President's participation would be in person.

However, Peskov has not yet commented on whether Putin has any bilateral meetings scheduled on the margins of the event. "We will let you know," the presidential spokesman said.

Earlier in June, new Turkmenistan President Serdar Berdymukhamedov visited Moscow. During talks, he invited Putin to visit the country, and the Russian leader accepted the invitation.
