Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan in Astana on October 13. Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday that relations between Moscow and Ankara will be discussed, as well as the topic of Ukraine.
"There is some certainty, the meeting is being prepared," the Kremlin spokesman said, specifying that it will take place on Thursday.
According to Peskov, the topics of the upcoming talks are clear. "This, of course, and Ukraine, and bilateral relations, very and very multifaceted, and in general an exchange of views on current affairs," he listed. The Russian president's press secretary noted that Putin is flying to Astana late Wednesday night, where he will work Thursday and Friday.
As Yuri Ushakov, Aide to the Russian leader, noted in early September, Putin plans to take part in the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA), the CIS summit and the Central Asia-Russia meeting in the Kazakh capital on October 12-14.
Kazakhstan is chairing the CIS this year. CICA is an interstate forum created on the initiative of Kazakhstan in 1992. Its headquarters is located in the capital of the republic.
Earlier, Erdogan said he intended to hold a meeting with the Russian president in the upcoming days.
