13 July 2022

Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold a meeting with Iran's spiritual leader Ali Khamenei during his visit to the country, Russian Ambassador to Tehran Levan Dzhagaryan said this on the Russia-24 TV channel on Wednesday.

"As we expect, this time there will also be a meeting with the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, and meetings with President [Ebrahim] Raisi and with President [ of Turkey Recep Tayyip] Erdogan are also scheduled," he said.

The ambassador expects the visit to continue the exchange of views on a wide range of issues on both the bilateral agenda and regional issues, which the Russian president and his Iranian counterpart discussed on the margins of the sixth Caspian summit. "Expectations are highest," Dzhagaryan summarized.

On Tuesday, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters about Putin's planned visit to Tehran on July 19, where he will meet with Iranian and Turkish presidents Ebrahim Raisi and Erdogan.
