Putin to meet with UAE President in St. Petersburg on October 11

Russian President Vladimir Putin plans to meet with Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, in St. Petersburg on Tuesday, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.


"Tomorrow the president has another working day in St. Petersburg, President of the United Arab Emirates Al Nahyan will be in St. Petersburg on a working visit. Putin will meet with him and hold bilateral talks," the Kremlin spokesman told reporters on Monday. He specified that the conversation will take place "in a one-on-one format."


Peskov added that the Russian president's working schedule for October 11 includes other working meetings.


Putin spoke to Mohammed Al Nahyan by telephone in May of this year. The Russian leader personally expressed his condolences in connection with the death of the previous UAE President Khalifa Al Nahyan and congratulated Mohammed Al Nahyan on his election as president of the state and assumption of the post of ruler of the emirate of Abu Dhabi. The Kremlin reported at the time that the two sides "noted with satisfaction the level of strategic partnership between the two countries achieved" and expressed "the mutual desire for further progressive development of friendly Russian-Emirati relations." The presidents also agreed to maintain contacts at various levels.
