Putin to outline priorities of Russia's presidency in EEU

Russian President Vladimir Putin will speak at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Bishkek, outlining the priorities of the Russian presidency in the EEU in 2023. Russian presidential aide for international affairs Yury Ushakov told reporters at a briefing on Thursday.


"In his speech at the enlarged meeting, Russian President [Vladimir Putin] will assess the current stage of integration, identify topical tasks for further development of the EEU and also, of course, outline the key priorities of the Russian presidency for 2023," Ushakov said.


The presidential aide noted that Putin's speech at the enlarged meeting will be official. "It is also clear that he will make a number of comments on the issues that will be discussed in this closed, narrow session," he clarified.


Speaking about the priorities of the presidency, Ushakov noted that traditionally their full list will be contained in the official messages that Vladimir Putin will send to the heads of all member states of the union. He specified that usually such documents are sent at the beginning of the year. "The text of these messages with the priorities of the Russian presidency will be published on the Kremlin website," he added.


Among the main priorities Ushakov emphasized actualization of strategic guidelines of the EEU development, strengthening of technological sovereignty, wide implementation of information technologies in various sectors, increasing of investment cooperation, increasing of guarantees of investors' rights protection. "It is planned to supplement the integration agenda with humanitarian issues. We will offer to intensify scientific, educational and youth exchanges.


Special attention will be paid to establishing close cooperation between the EAEU and other countries and integration associations," the Kremlin representative said. According to Ushakov, the signing of outcome documents is planned after the discussion at an enlarged meeting of the council.


The Russian delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister Alexei Overchuk, presidential aide Yury Ushakov, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov, Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov, Energy Minister Nikolay Shulginov, and representatives of the Finance Ministry, Industry Ministry and Foreign Ministry.
