Putin to speak at Eurasian Economic Forum in Moscow

Russian President Vladimir Putin will address the plenary session of the II Eurasian Economic Forum (EEF-2023) on Wednesday. The event will be held as part of a two-day summit of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU).


The theme of the forum will be "Eurasian integration in a multipolar world." The leaders of all EEU countries are expected to take part in the plenary session.

 

 

EEF-2023


The forum is held as part of Russia's presidency of the Eurasian Economic Union in 2023. The Roscongress Foundation is the operator of the event.


There will be about 35 business sessions within the forum which will be divided into seven thematic areas.


The press service of the Roscongress Foundation said earlier that within the frames of the "Human capital" track experts would discuss the prospects of the EEU countries tourist potential. The "Technology and cooperation" block will address the issues of technological sovereignty. The participants of the "EEU in a changing world" block will discuss the key areas of cooperation within the EEU, the SCO and BRICS. The "Eurasian convergence" block will address the key issues of the digital agenda. Participants of the "EAEU Domestic Market: Customs Cooperation, Competition and Government Procurement" block will discuss legal issues of the Union in the context of modern challenges and customs regulations. The "Strategic block" will discuss the key goal of the EEU development until 2045 and concrete steps for its realization.


Second day of the summit


On May 25, Putin will take part in a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council. The event will review how Russia is implementing the goals of its presidency of the EEU in 2023. In particular, they will discuss energy and food security, technological and financial independence, acceleration of digital transformation, elimination of regulatory and trade barriers, and development of transport infrastructure. They will also discuss international activities of the Eurasian Economic Union and expansion of trade and economic relations with third countries and regional associations.


In addition to the general session, the Russian leader is expected to have bilateral meetings with his foreign counterparts on the sidelines of the summit.
