The Russian and Palestinian presidents discussed the escalation in East Jerusalem and expressed hope that it would not escalate into a large-scale Palestinian-Israeli confrontation. The conversation also discussed the need to restart the dialogue between the two sides, the Kremlin press service reported.
"The problems of the Middle East settlement in the context of escalating tensions in the West Bank and East Jerusalem were discussed. The hope was expressed that this will not escalate into a large-scale Palestinian-Israeli confrontation," the statement said.
