"Today, Islamic countries are actively developing, and achieve notable accomplishments in trade and finance, innovations and scientific research. Russia is open to extensive business and humanitarian cooperation with them. We are interested in strengthening the existing ties and finding new partners, as well as in promoting agricultural and industrial cooperation and creating new transport and logistics chains," reads the president's address posted on the Kremlin website on Monday.
Putin stressed that Russia traditionally has close and trusting relations with Muslim states both bilaterally and within the framework of cooperation with the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The relations between Russia and Islamic countries are based on partnership, respect for sovereignty and civilizational identity of each other, the president said in his greeting. It notes that Russia and Islamic countries are united by a common devotion to create a more just multipolar world order based on international law, and Russian Muslims play an important role in expanding international contacts, with the forum being evidence of this.
Kazan confirmed its status as a credible and popular venue for large-scale and representative business events, said Putin. He expressed confidence that the activities of the Group of Strategic Vision "Russia - Islamic World" and the International Economic Forum KazanForum would further strengthen cooperation between the business communities of Russia and Muslim countries and open new opportunities for joint projects at interregional and interstate level. The president wished the forum participants fruitful work and all the best.
The purpose of KazanForum is to strengthen trade and economic, scientific and technical, social and cultural ties between Russia and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. It was first held in 2009, creating a leading international platform for discussion of issues of cooperation and implementation of joint projects. This year, by the decision of Putin, the forum received federal status.
In 2022 more than 6,300 participants attended the event.
