Qatar lifts all COVID-19 restrictions

09 March 2023

The government of Qatar lifted all restrictions and precautions aimed at preventing the spread of the coronavirus on Wednesday, except for the wearing of protective masks in medical facilities. The government communications office said in a statement posted on Twitter.

"The Council of ministers has decided to lift all previous restrictions related to COVID-19, except for the requirement for all citizens, residents and visitors [to the country] to wear masks in health facilities," the document said.

On July 6, 2022, the government brought back the requirement to wear protective masks in all enclosed spaces, which had been repealed on May 21. Previously, masks had only been mandatory in health care facilities, public transportation, and for service workers.
