Rahmon and Mirziyoyev Discuss Economic Cooperation between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan

During bilateral talks in Dushanbe, Presidents Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan and Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan, who is on a state visit, focused on enhancing cooperation in various economic sectors and attracting investments, as reported by the press service of the Tajik leader.

 

The discussions between the presidents encompassed the advancement of trade, industry, machinery, joint processing of agricultural products, pharmaceutical production, and the construction of power plants. Additionally, they emphasized the importance of attracting investments. Both leaders identified the joint construction of wind and solar power plants as promising areas for future collaboration.

 

Furthermore, Rahmon and Mirziyoyev deliberated on expanding ties in transportation, cargo transportation, establishing new routes between regions of both countries, and continuing efforts to develop railway infrastructure.

 

Mirziyoyev's state visit to Dushanbe commenced on April 18. Following the bilateral talks, the presidents signed an agreement on allied relations between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. In June 2022, Rahmon paid an official visit to Tashkent, resulting in the signing of 15 documents, including the Declaration on strengthening eternal friendship and alliance between the two republics, among others. By the end of 2023, the trade turnover between Tajikistan and Uzbekistan had reached $600 million.
