Rahmon Extends Congratulations to Putin on Election Victory

President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has extended his heartfelt congratulations to Russian President Vladimir Putin on his resounding victory in the presidential election, the text of the telegram was published by the Tajik leader's press service.

 

"I extend my heartfelt congratulations on your victory in the presidential election. The outcomes of the recent vote serve as a resounding confirmation of your exceptional political leadership and the widespread backing from Russian society for your approach to fostering the country's sustainable socio-economic growth and enhancing its global standing," the text reads.

 

Rahmon emphasized the importance of the Tajikistan-Russia strategic partnership and allied interaction, noting the republic's appreciation for Putin's significant contributions to enhancing the bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Russia. He reaffirmed his readiness to collaborate with Putin to elevate the multifaceted cooperation between the two nations, for the mutual benefit of their peoples.

 

The Russian presidential elections were held from March 15 to 17, being the first time they were conducted over three days and using remote electronic voting. A total of four candidates ran for the position of head of state, including Putin, Vladislav Davankov, Leonid Slutsky, and Nikolai Kharitonov. Russian citizens abroad were able to cast their votes at 295 polling stations across 144 countries, while in Tajikistan, six polling stations were established in Dushanbe and Khujand, and four additional stations were set up for Russian military personnel and their families.

 

According to the Central Election Commission of the Russian Federation, after processing 95.08% of the protocols, Putin leads with 87.32% of the votes, followed by Nikolai Kharitonov of the CPRF with 4.28%, Vladislav Davankov of the New People party with 3.85%, and Leonid Slutsky of the LDPR with 3.15%.
