RCSC in Beirut began collecting medicines for victims of the explosion

The Russian Center for Science and Culture (RCSC) in Beirut has started campaign to collect medicines and dressings for victims of the explosion in the Lebanese capital, the medicines will be transferred to the Ministry of Health of the country. This was announced by the head of Rossotrudnichestvo Yevgeny Primakov on his Facebook page.


The RCSC base in Lebanon, he wrote, is providing assistance to victims of the Beirut bombing. "The collection of medical supplies - bandages, painkillers, blood donation. Who is in Beirut, come to the Russian house. We are working," Primakov said.


In turn, the official page of the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Lebanon says that "in these difficult days for all residents of Lebanon, the Russian people together with the Lebanese".


"Yesterday, there was a powerful explosion in Beirut, people were injured. The representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Lebanon organizes assistance to those who need it. We are announcing the collection of dressings and essential medicines for the victims, which will be transferred to the Ministry of Health of the Lebanese Republic," the RCSC said.


"Understanding the complexity of the epidemiological situation, we invite everyone to join our colleagues and donate blood for victims of the explosion. Anyone who needs our help and support can leave a message on the official Facebook page of the representative office or send it by email lebanon@rs.gov.ru, or contact by phone, " the RCSC noted.


A powerful explosion occurred on Tuesday in the area of the seaport of Beirut, near the base of the Lebanese Navy. The blast destroyed and damaged dozens of homes and cars, and shattered windows in many districts of the capital. According to local authorities, the cause of the explosion was the detonation of 2,700 tons of ammonium nitrate, confiscated by customs in 2015, stored in a warehouse. According to the latest data, about 100 people were killed and about 4 thousand were injured.
