Abdourahamane Tchiani, the leader of Niger's rebels and Chairman of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland (CNSP), has issued a decree announcing the formation of a new transitional government. This information was reported by the ActuNiger news portal.
The newly formed government consists of 20 ministers, comprising both military and civilian personnel. Ali Lamine Zeine, the head of the cabinet, has taken on the additional role of Minister of Economy and Finance.
General Lieutenant Salifou Modi, one of the CNSP leaders, has been appointed as the Minister of State and Minister of National Defense. Brigadier General Mohamed Toumba will serve as the State Minister, overseeing Internal Affairs, Public Safety, and Territorial Administration. Bakary Yaou Sangare has assumed the position of Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, and Nigerians Abroad.
Alio Daouda has been designated as the Minister of Justice and Human Rights, as well as the Keeper of Seals. Mahaman Moustapha Barke will hold the position of Minister of Petroleum, Mines, and Energy; Seydou Asman as Minister of Commerce and Industry; Sidi Mohamed Raliou as Minister of Communication, Posts, and Digital Economy; and Mahaman Elhadj Ousmane as Minister of Agriculture and Livestock.
Colonel Garba Hakimi will lead the Ministry of Public Health, Population, and Social Affairs, while Colonel Abdourahamane Amadou will serve as the Minister of Youth and Sports. Colonel Salissou Mahaman Salissou has been appointed as the Minister of Transport and Equipment, and Guichen Agaichata Atta will hold the portfolio of Minister of Handicrafts and Tourism.
On August 9, Ali Lamine Zeine, who arrived from N'Djamena, Chad, met with Abdourahamane Tchiani at the presidential palace in Niamey, as reported by the national television of the republic.
