The Israeli military has been obstructing the work of ambulance crews in the West Bank city of Jenin, according to a statement by the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.
"For five consecutive days, Palestinian Red Crescent Society staff have been tirelessly providing humanitarian and emergency aid to the residents of the besieged city of Jenin and its refugee camp, despite ongoing obstruction by Israeli occupation forces, which have impeded ambulance crews and prevented them from reaching many locations," the society stated on X (formerly known as Twitter).
On the night of August 28, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) launched an operation in Jenin, Tulkarm, and nearby Palestinian refugee camps in the northern West Bank. According to the WAFA news agency, at least 25 Palestinians were killed by Israeli forces in the area. Since the escalation began on October 7, 2023, the total number of Palestinians killed by the IDF in the West Bank has risen to 679.
On Saturday, representatives of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported that the Israeli military shelled one of their ambulances in Jenin.
