Today, May 8, at 14.00, a scientific and educational online conference with international participation "Unity of peoples and religious communities in the name of protecting the Fatherland and its freedom" was started. The event, according to the press service of the Religious Board of Muslims the Russian Federation, is timed to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic war.
Chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin, addressed the participants. Clergy, scientists and politicians are expected to make a speech.
"The goal of the conference - mainstreaming religious interpretation of the feelings of citizenship, patriotism, duty to the Fatherland; to familiarize the public with the latest research in the field of participation of believers in general, and Soviet Muslims, in particular, in the defense of the homeland; transfer to young generation of citizens of the CIS States of memory about the events of 1941-1945," the message reads.
The online conference will be attended by veterans of the Great Patriotic war, clergy of religious associations of traditional and world religious traditions, representatives of legislative and executive authorities, the scientific community, leaders of search movements and Patriotic organizations, students from the CIS countries.

The conference will also feature a presentation of a short documentary film dedicated to the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic war, "Jihad against Hitler".
The film tells about the participation of Muslims of the Soviet Union in the Great Patriotic war, and also reveals facts that are not known to the general public about the contribution of the Muslim clergy to the overall Victory.
For example, in the first days and months of the war, the head of the only centralized Muslim organization in the USSR (at that time), mufti Gabdurrahman Rasulev, declared a Holy war – Jihad to the Hitler invaders.
The General producer of the film is the head of the Department of documentary projects of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation Ahmad Makarov, and the Executive producer is Timur Bulgakov. Scientific consultants of the film were researchers of the Moscow Islamic Institute V.A. Akhmadullin and Zh.V. Akhmadullina.
The film was made by request of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation.
