Participants in the meeting of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, currently being held in Kazakhstan's capital, have expressed their concerns regarding the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. They call on both parties involved to seek a peaceful resolution. Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairman of the Senate (upper house) of the Parliament of Kazakhstan and head of the Secretariat, made this statement.
"As religious leaders exemplify successful dialogue and mutual understanding, we witness increasing disagreements and conflicts in world politics. Geopolitical rivalries among major powers are on the rise, leading to the erosion of the international security system," he stated.
In this context, Ashimbayev highlighted that efforts to halt the bloodshed in Ukraine and other conflict zones have yet to produce substantial results. He expressed shared concern about the significant escalation in the Middle East, particularly the deteriorating Palestinian-Israeli conflict, which has resulted in numerous civilian casualties. Given these circumstances, he called for the exploration of political instruments to peacefully resolve the situation, emphasizing the importance of avoiding actions that might lead to further escalation and expansion of the conflict.
The Secretariat meeting involves participants from various world and traditional religious backgrounds, as well as international and religious organizations representing more than 20 countries around the world.
