Rossotrudnichestvo presents a photo exhibition about World War II in Tanzania

06 September 2019

The Central national library of Tanzania hosted the photo exhibition of the local office of Rossotrudnichestvo "The truth about the Great war", dedicated to the 80th anniversary of the beginning of World War II.

Part of the exhibition is presented by photographs and articles related to the fighting that took place from 1935 to 1943 in North Africa. Those times about 100 thousand people from the continental part of Tanzania-Tanganyika, who were mobilized by the French and English colonial authorities, became participants of the North African campaign, opposing the German-Italian coalition.

The number of Muslims in Tanzania is about 14 million (more than 30 percent of the population). In Zanzibar (semi-autonomous region of Tanzania), they are the majority (97 percent). However, Tanzania has not become a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation yet.
