A correspondent of the Russian news channel RT has been arrested in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, the Russian Telegram channel RT-Arabic, which broadcasts in Arabic, reported on Tuesday.
According to its information, the Iraqi security services "arrested RT reporter Ashraf al-Azzawi in Baghdad and took him away to an unknown destination." The Telegram channel points out that the arrest was made "under the pretext of the expiration of the correspondent's work permit."
It also notes that "the Iraqi authorities are closing the RT office in Baghdad and confiscating the equipment in it."
No other details of the incident were given.
