"Rubezh-2022" CSTO exercises completed in Tajikistan

The Central Asian region's Collective Rapid Deployment Forces have completed practical actions in southern Tajikistan as part of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) "Rubezh-2022" exercises, the joint press center of the exercises reported on Friday. The training lasted almost two weeks and ended with an operation to liberate a populated area.


"In Tajikistan, the "Rubezh-2022" exercise of the Collective Rapid Deployment Forces (CRDF) of the CSTO member states of the Central Asian region (CAR) of collective security ended. Practical actions took place at the Kharb-Maidon training ground near the border with Afghanistan," the report says.


In the course of the maneuvers, training and combat operations of collective forces to destroy illegal armed formations invading the territory of a CSTO member state were practiced. In the final draw the artillery group stopped the advance of the main forces of "militants" deep into the state, and a group of army aviation of the Central Military District and the Ministry of Defense of Tajikistan provided a counterattack of the CAR CRDF. Then the special forces units of the CRDF of the CAR carried out an operation to liberate a populated locality captured by "militants.


Exercises were conducted from October 10 to 21, the active phase of the exercise began on October 17. About 1,000 people took part in the maneuvers - military contingents of the states of the Central Asian region and task forces of the Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat. The core of the Russian contingent was comprised of servicemen of the Central Military District from the 201st Military Base. More than 300 pieces of military and special equipment were also involved, including aircraft, helicopters and UAVs.
