Russia – Africa Summit starts in Sochi

The Russia – Africa Economic Forum and Summit in Sochi will be co-chaired by Russian and Egyptian presidents Vladimir Putin and Abdel Fattah el-Sisi. The leaders of 43 African states will take part in its work.


On the sidelines of the Summit, Putin will hold separate meetings with the leaders of eight African states.


In addition to talks with the President of Egypt, the Russian leader will meet with President of Namibia Hage Gottfried Geingob, Prime Minister of Ethiopia Abiy Ahmed, President of the Central African Republic Faustin-Archange Touadéra, President of the Democratic Republic of the Congo Félix Tshisekedi, presidents of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, Nigeria - Muhammadu Buhari, South Africa - Cyril Ramaphosa, Chairman of the Sovereignty Council of Sudan Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.


The main topics of discussion will be bilateral cooperation and international issues, in particular, the settlement of regional conflicts on the continent.
