Russia and Azerbaijan discuss normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan

Azerbaijan and Russia held political consultations to discuss the bilateral agenda and normalization of relations between Baku and Yerevan. This was reported on Thursday by the press service of the Azerbaijani foreign ministry.


"Bilateral political consultations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation were held in Moscow on May 31," the statement said. According to the foreign ministry, the sides were represented by Azerbaijani and Russian Deputy Foreign Ministers Khalaf Khalafov and Mikhail Galuzin.


"During the consultations the sides held a broad exchange of views on political, economic, humanitarian and other topical issues of the bilateral agenda, the expansion of the legal framework, the regional cooperation and security, as well as international issues of mutual interest," the ministry said in a statement.


According to the Azerbaijani foreign ministry, the delegations noted the importance of efforts aimed at strengthening peace, security and stability in the region, "consistent steps towards the implementation of all agreements reached in the context of normalization of relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia."
