Russian-Azerbaijani consultations on the topic of security are taking place in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
The Russian side is represented by Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Russian Federation Security Council; the Azerbaijani side by Ramil Usubov, Secretary of the Security Council of Azerbaijan. Representatives of a number of power ministries and departments of the two countries also take part in the consultations.
Nikolai Patrushev arrived in Baku on September 3. That day he met with the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. The parties discussed issues of cooperation in security, economy, cultural and humanitarian ties between the two countries and cooperation in international organizations, particularly the UN and the OSCE.
