Special Presidential Representative for Syria Alexander Lavrentyev and Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin held consultations with  the Prime Minister’s International Affairs Adviser and Deputy National Security Adviser David Quarrey.

According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the parties exchanged views on problems in Syria and issues in the Middle East that are on the UN Security Council’s agenda.

In particular, they reviewed in detail the situation “on the ground” in Syria, primarily in the northeast of the country and in the Idlib de-escalation zone.

The officials  discussed a political settlement in connection with the initiation of the Syrian Constitutional Committee in Geneva and the need for comprehensive humanitarian assistance for all Syrians.
