Russia and Central Asia note importance of continuing humanitarian aid to Afghanistan

14 October 2022

Russia and the heads of Central Asian states noted the importance to continue providing humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. The text of their joint statement on the outcome of the Central Asia-Russia meeting, which was held in Astana on Friday, was made public by the Kremlin press service.

The statement also noted that peace in Afghanistan can be achieved only with the formation of an inclusive government in the country, in which all major ethnic and political forces are represented. "We are convinced that sustainable peace in Afghanistan is achievable only through the establishment of a truly inclusive government with the participation of the main ethnic and political forces. We will continue diverse interaction to this end," the document reads.

The heads of Russia and the five Central Asian states also noted that it was important not to isolate Afghanistan "in order to continue helping the Afghan people to avoid further deterioration of the humanitarian situation in that country."
