Russia and China agreed to step up coordination in international affairs

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held telephone talks with his Chinese counterpart, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.


The heads of diplomacy discussed the situation caused by the pandemic of new coronavirus infection.


"The parties highly appreciated the Russian-Chinese cooperation and exchange of experience in the fight against the pandemic and in countering its further spread, and noted the effectiveness of measures taken in both countries. The importance of further expanding contacts in order to protect the lives and ensure the well - being of citizens of the two countries was highlighted", the message reads.


The Ministers also noted that in the current conditions of the pandemic, Russia and China continue to build up their strategic partnership, act in world affairs with a unified position, and deepen foreign policy coordination, including the implementation of the responsibility of Moscow and Beijing as permanent members of the UN Security Council for the maintenance of international peace and security.
