Russia and Egypt Urged to Take Measures to Prevent Deterioration of Humanitarian Situation in Gaza

01 March

Russian Presidential Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Egyptian Ambassador to Moscow Nazih Naghari called for measures at the international level to prevent the degradation of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

"In the course of the conversation they discussed topical Middle East issues with a focus on the ongoing crisis in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone. The importance of taking early measures at the international level to prevent further degradation of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip was emphasized," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on the results of the meeting, published on its website at the request of the Egyptian ambassador.

The situation in the Middle East sharply escalated after Hamas infiltrated from the Gaza Strip into Israeli territory on October 7, 2023.

They called the attack a response to Israeli authorities' actions against the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Israel declared a complete blockade of Gaza and began strikes against it and parts of Lebanon and Syria before launching a ground operation in the enclave.
