Russia and Egypt will not resume charter flights until 2020

18 November 2019

The issue of direct flights to Egypt's resorts will not be decided until the New year, "Interfax" reports with reference to unnamed sources.

"There is no talks about the return of Russian charters to the airports of Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh before the end of the year. The issue will be discussed again only in 2020", the message reads.

The airports of Hurghada and Sharm El-Sheikh underwent a large-scale reconstruction, but this, as noted, is not enough to meet Russian security standards.

The Russian side was not satisfied with the conditions of anti-terrorist security and security of tourist transfers.

Flights to Egypt was canceled in November 2015 due to the accident of the "Kogalymavia" aircraft. The victims of the terrorist attack were 224 people.
