Russia and Egypt working group on anti-terrorism may meet in May

A meeting of the Russian-Egyptian working group on combating terrorism is scheduled for May, the republic's ambassador to Moscow, Ihab Nasr, told reporters on Tuesday.

"A strategic partnership agreement was signed in October 2018. One part of this agreement includes the creation of a joint Russian-Egyptian working group on counterterrorism. The first meeting was held in Moscow in 2019, now we expect to hold the second meeting of the group later this month," he said.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in April that a face-to-face meeting of the group was planned to be held in Cairo in the near future. The minister stressed that joint work within the framework of this mechanism contributes to the strengthening of cooperation between countries in the anti-terrorism direction.
