Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Andrei Rudenko discussed key issues on the East Asia Summit (EAS) agenda with Indonesian Foreign Ministry Director General for ASEAN Affairs (in the rank of deputy minister) Sidharto Suryodipuro by telephone on Tuesday.
"The focus was on key issues on the agenda of the East Asia Summit (EAS), including in the context of preparations for this year's upcoming events of this forum," the foreign ministry said in a statement.
Smolensk Square noted that there was an interested exchange of views on the prospects for the development of interaction at multilateral regional platforms. "The Russian side expressed support for the Indonesian presidency in the ASEAN-centred mechanisms of the Asia-Pacific region, confirming its willingness to work closely together," the ministry added.
