Russia and Indonesia to prepare a meeting of the leaders of the two states

Russia and Indonesia are discussing preparations for a new meeting of the two countries ' leaders, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told at the opening of the photo exhibition of archival documents dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Russian-Indonesian diplomatic relations.


"Today, our relations continue to develop steadily. I would like to note the regular and intensive political dialogue, including at the highest level. Presidents [of Russia Vladimir] Putin and [Indonesia Joko] Widodo met in Sochi in May 2016, and in Singapore in November 2018. They regularly contact each other by telephone. We are now negotiating new meetings at the highest level", the Russian Foreign Minister said.


According to Lavrov, over the past 70 years, countries have managed to accumulate a unique experience of cooperation in various fields. Regular channels of interaction exist between ministries, including foreign ministries, parliaments, companies and corporations.
In addition, Russia, as Sergey Lavrov stressed, " notes with satisfaction the progress of military and military-technical ties with Indonesia".


Indonesia is the world's largest Muslim state and is a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. Islam is practiced by 88% of the country's population.
