Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov held consultations with First Deputy Foreign Minister of Iraq Abdul Karim Hashem.
The conversation focused on the current situation in and around Iraq.
The Russian side confirmed its unconditional respect for Iraq's sovereignty, preserving its unity, independence and territorial integrity.
Considerable attention was paid to the prospects for resolving the Syrian crisis.
Separately, they discussed topical issues of further building up traditionally friendly Russian-Iraqi ties with an emphasis on consistently strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation in the fuel and energy, investment and humanitarian spheres.
