Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu signed a comprehensive plan for cooperation between their respective foreign ministries for the years 2025-2026. The signing ceremony took place in Astana following bilateral talks between the two diplomats, as reported by a TASS correspondent.
“Cultural, humanitarian, and educational ties, the opening of joint schools in Russia and Kazakhstan, the expansion of a network of university branches, and the opening of a Russian consulate in Aktau – all of this will contribute to the development of relations between our people who show a strong interest in maintaining contact,” Lavrov stated. “I am confident that the Plan of Consultations and Cooperation for 2025-2026, which we are signing today, will make our participation in all these processes more effective.”
The agreement signifies a commitment to strengthening the already close relationship between Russia and Kazakhstan across a broad spectrum of areas.
Lavrov is currently on a two-day working visit to Kazakhstan from November 6-7.
