Russia and Kyrgyzstan Assess Biosecurity Threats in Their Territories

Representatives from Kyrgyzstan and Russia held consultations in Bishkek to evaluate the level of biosecurity threats in both countries, the Russian embassy in Kyrgyzstan reports.

 

"Consultations between  Russia and Kyrgyzstan in an interagency format on biological security were held in Bishkek. The participants exchanged their assessments regarding biosecurity threats on the territories of Russia and Kyrgyzstan," the statement said.

 

They also discussed the implementation of the bilateral intergovernmental memorandum of understanding on biological security, including "specific directions for further cooperation."

 

"Discussions were held on optimizing and enhancing the efficiency of cooperation in this area. The meeting confirmed the unity of approaches between Russia and Kyrgyzstan on biosecurity issues," the statement noted.

 

Both sides emphasized the necessity for "further close coordination and constructive interaction both bilaterally and on relevant multilateral platforms," particularly within the framework of the Convention on the Prohibition of Biological and Toxin Weapons.
