12 July

Russia and Malaysia are nearing the completion of an agreement to mutually abolish tourist visas, as reported by Malaysian Ambassador to the Russian Federation Cheong Lun Lai to TASS.

"Our specialized agencies are finalizing work on this agreement," the diplomat stated. He noted that tourists from the Russian Federation already have the opportunity to visit Malaysia without a visa for up to 30 days. "Now we expect that similar access to Russia will be granted to tourists from Malaysia," Cheong Lun Lai explained.

Earlier, Russian Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov mentioned that Russia is preparing to abolish visas completely with several countries in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
