Russia and Nigeria agreed to intensify political dialogue

Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister  Mikhail Bogdanov received Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Russian Federation Steve Davies Ugbah at the latter’s request.


The parties discussed in detail current issues related to the further development of traditionally friendly Russian-Nigerian relations, including in light of the results of the Russia-Africa Summit held on October 24, 2019 in Sochi and attended by President of Nigeria Muhammadu Buhari.


The diplomats reaffirmed the mutual desire of Moscow and Abuja to intensify political dialogue and expand mutually beneficial cooperation in trade, the economy, humanitarian and other fields.


Nigeria is a state in West Africa, is a member of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. As for the religious composition of the population, Muslims are 51.6%, Christians-46.9%, the rest-adherents of local traditional beliefs.
