Russia and Oman intend to finalize an agreement on visa-free entry

Russia and Oman will improve the legal-treaty base, including the completion of an agreement on visa-free regime, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said on Wednesday at a press conference following talks with Foreign Minister of OmanBadr Bin Hamad Bin Hamood Al Busaidi.


"We will improve the contractual and legal framework, including the completion of the agreement on the introduction of a visa-free regime for our people," the head of the Russian diplomatic office said.


Lavrov also spoke about other issues that the sides touched upon at the meeting. "We discussed areas of potential work that would allow to develop joint mutually beneficial projects in energy, tourism, transport, telecommunications and other areas," he said.


The foreign minister of Oman added that the Sultanate is making progress toward the cancellation of visa requirements for regular passports. "For us the priority is to reach an agreement to avoid double taxation, we are waiting for comments from the Russian side. The second is the final procedure of canceling visa requirements for regular passports. There is progress in this direction. I hope that in the near future we will sign [the agreement]. This will promote cooperation in tourism and business contacts," he said.
