Russia and Qatar sign Memorandum of Cooperation on Counter-Terrorism

The Staff of the Security Council of the Russian Federation and the National Security Agency of Qatar signed a memorandum of cooperation. The document, which involves the exchange of information in the fight against terrorism and transnational crime, as well as on security issues in the Middle East region, was signed by Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, and Abdullah Al-Khuleifi, Director of the National Security Agency, Qatar.

 

In particular, the memorandum sets out the intention of the parties to hold regular consultations on issues related to national, regional and international security of mutual interest.

 

The parties agreed to discuss security issues in the Middle East and North Africa region, topics of cooperation in combating international terrorism, drug trafficking, human trafficking, arms smuggling, piracy, cybercrime, money laundering, economic and other transnational crimes.

 

Today Nikolai Patrushev completes his two-day visit to Doha, in the framework of which the Amir of Qatar Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani received him in his palace.
