Russia and Qatar to hold consultations on security

Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev is on a two-day visit to Qatar. According to the press service of the Security Council Staff, he "will hold Russian-Qatari consultations on issues of national, regional and international security of mutual interest".


It is noted that Patrushev regularly makes foreign visits for bilateral security consultations, and receives his foreign colleagues in Moscow.


As for the relations between Russia and Qatar, they are "strong and trusting".


In June 2019, Russian President Vladimir Putin met with Qatar's Amir Tamim bin Hamad al Thani. In January this year, the leaders had a telephone conversation. In March last year, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov visited Doha.
