Professor Valery Salygin, Director of the International Institute for energy policy and diplomacy (IIEP), met with Jamil Dandany, Advisor to the Minister of Energy of Saudi Arabia.
During the talks, the parties discussed promising areas of cooperation between MGIMO and IIEP and King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, the largest university in Saudi Arabia.
Particular attention was paid to the possibility of opening a joint Russian-Saudi Institute for energy cooperation with the support of the leading oil and gas companies of the two countries.
According to the press service of MGIMO, the negotiators agreed to sign a Memorandum of understanding, which will spell out the most promising areas of cooperation, including in terms of joint development of relevant educational programs and research projects, exchange of professors, teachers and scientific personnel, exchange of students, organization of educational and scientific training and joint conferences and seminars.
