The Vatican hosted a meeting of the Director of the Department for Non-Proliferation and Arms Control at the Russian Foreign Ministry Vladimir Yermakov with the head of the Vatican Foreign Office Paul Gallagher.
According to the website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, diplomats have exchanged views on the most pressing issues of arms control, as well as nuclear disarmament and non-proliferation. A joint assessment of the situation was given in this area.
The parties have come to the agreement on the necessity to resolve as soon as possible the difficulties and contradictions in this area, and also expressed interest in continuing the substantive dialogue on issues of common interest.
