Russia called groundless US accusations of COVID distribution by China

14 May 2020

Moscow considers US accusations against China in the spread of the coronavirus groundless, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov told at the presentation of an extraordinary special report of the Valdai International Discussion club  "Do not go wild in the "crumbling world".

"Of course, we are following with concern what is happening in terms of Washington's accusations against China, our strategic partner. We have repeatedly stated our position on this topic, and it boils down to the fact that there is no reason to reproach China that something was taken untimely, incorrectly, or inadequately during the entire period of the fight against the COVID-19 virus," a senior Russian diplomat said, in particular.

"We see how politicians, diplomats, and the most responsible persons of the Executive branch in Washington are literally multiplying the list of claims addressed to China on a daily basis, and trying to impose an anti - Chinese discourse on the entire international community," Ryabkov added.

According to the latest WHO data, more than 4.1 million cases of coronavirus infection were recorded in the world, more than 287 thousand people died.
